Grown in Durham

Durham's Early Childhood Action Plan (ECAP)

About

Our Team

Grown in Durham is a collective of families, frontline providers, community-rooted leaders, and institutional leaders.

We have come together to write and bring to life Durham’s Early Childhood Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to ensure the well-being of children ages 0-8, their families and their communities. We are now bringing that plan to life.

There are three main bodies that make up our collective currently. A steering committee, a support team and our 5 to Thrive Champions. Our collective is intentionally structured to amplify the voices of those most impacted by the challenges, and that reflects our Durham community. The majority of members are long-term residents of Durham, parents of young children, people with lived experience with the challenges in our early childhood systems and people of color. We are in the process of figuring out how our collective will be organized as we move into the next phase of our work! More to come!

Steering Committee

A group of parents/caregivers, frontline providers, community-rooted leaders, and institutional leaders that come together to make large, broad decisions about the work.

Support Team

A collective of community-rooted leaders who advise the steering committee, move the day to day work forward and implement the collective vision.

5 To Thrive Champions

Parent researchers that get up to date ideas from families and frontline providers regarding how to define and solve challenges facing young children and families.
